BDG Update

Heyla, all!

We still have a shop at Dragon's Hollow, which stands fairly empty at this time. Why not help fill it up with items you've created as display pieces for what you have to offer? Remember, if you would like to display your items at the shop, simply send me an e-mail, through ThereMail, stating what and how many items you will be lending me, that the purpose of lending me the items is for display in the shop, as well as the fact that, at any time you require me to do so, I am expected to return the items. Also, don't forget to have a copy of that e-mail sent to your own account as a record of the contract. This e-mail should help cover any issues and fears you may have with lending me any items you would like to see displayed in the shop.

For those who don't have or simply don't wish to display any items, you are still free to drop your ThereDocs upon the display cases I have set out on the first floor. As soon as I am able to do so, I will attempt to acquire more shelving for ThereDocs to rest on. To teleport to The Keep: Home of the Broke Developers Group, click here.

Also, I would like to remind everyone that I am on the lookout for a volunteer to temporarily manage things while I'm out of action for the next few weeks. If you're interested, please feel free to either leave a comment on this post or to send me an e-mail through ThereMail.

Wishing everyone fair profits,

Real Life Issues = Little There Time

Heyla, all!

I do apologize for having been out of action, again. A day or so after the decoration party, I had been blind-sided by some unexpected real life issues that needed my attention. I hadn't expected them to take very long to attend to. Indeed, I thought that I would only need about a week, at most, to attend to them. After that, I would send in a late report on the decoration party meeting. Unfortunately, the situation I'm in was more serious than I realized, and before I knew it, I looked up and discovered that February is almost over.

I'm letting everyone know that I am still out of action, as the real life issues I'm attending to have not yet been resolved, and they demand my full attention. Again, I sincerely apologize for this. I'm hoping that I can be back to attend to the group at the end of March. I will do my best to keep everyone updated as to the situation. Until then, we have a couple of options:

1. The group can continue to lay low and quiet, for now.

2. I can find someone who's willing to take care of things while I'm gone. I needn't officially hand the group over to this individual, if anyone who would like to help is concerned about that. I realize that most people in this group have more than enough on their plates as it is, and I have no intention of adding unnecessarily to that burden. If someone is willing to take over leadership for this time, they would only be expected to run shop events, manage the monthly showcases, and take care of one further duty. (Yes, I did say showcases; my estimation of when my rl issues may be resolved may be a month off, so I would like to be prepared for that contingency.)

Before I can discuss the last bit of duty required of the temporary leader, I must first discuss an issue that had come up during the decorating party, earlier this month.

During the decoration party, those who had attended discussed how group members' items can be displayed in the shop. We had decided that the best way to do so is this: those who wish to set out their items for display in the shop can give me their items for a time to hold onto, for purposes of displaying in the shop. To assure everyone that their items will be returned, no matter what, those wishing their items to be displayed would send me an e-mail outlining exactly why I'm receiving a particular item or items, how long I'm to have it, etc. They are to keep a copy of these e-mails, as well. This way, if, for whatever reason, a dispute arises, group members have proof to take to There admin that the item in question truly is theirs, and must be returned. I doubt that the situation will ever come to that, as I'm more than happy to return an item given to me for display whenever a group member wishes, but I'm sure that simply having the proof will put everyone's fears to rest. I'm certainly not out to scam everyone.

So, how does this relate to the duties of the temporary group leader? Easily. If Kasss is still willing to have the group stay in Dragon's Hollow, and if I must still be the one to hold onto the property in order for the shop to be decorated, then I'm thinking that, during this time, the temporary group leader and I will arrange to have an event for about 1 to 2 hours every week where, after sending me the e-mails, everyone will meet to transfer the items over to me, so that I can then set them out in a hopefully pleasing manner for display. Again, if anyone wishes their item or items back, for any reason, just drop me an e-mail, and I'll happily return the item(s).

And that's all the temporary leader really needs to attend to, I think.

This blog is configured to accept comments from anyone, whether they have a blogspot account, or not. I invite everyone to please leave their comments as to which option they prefer, and if they like option number 2, whether he or she would be willing to look after the group while I'm out of action. I'll be monitoring the site every day, as often as I can, to hear what people think. Hopefully, by Friday, we'll all know what to expect in the next few weeks.

On that note, I once again apologize to everyone for having to take some time out from the group. I sincerely hope to be able to return, soon, and wish everyone well.

BDG Decoration Party

Heyla, all!

I've done a bit of base decorating for our new home, but as this shop is also meant for group members to display their own creations, I figure, why not let everyone else add the finishing touches? Hence, I've scheduled a Broke Developers Group Decoration Party! It's purpose, of course, is to allow everyone to come on in, take a gander at our new digs, and add their own furnishings and display items for customers to view and hopefully buy!

Broke Developers Group Decoration Party

The Keep: Home of the Broke Developers Group, is a large, tower-like building, with a total of 5 floors, including the roof and basement. With so much room to play with, I decided that it couldn't hurt to divide the place up according to usage and item displays. This will help make shopping much easier and, hopefully, more interesting to potential customers and casual visitors.

The first floor will be the fashion floor. It contains a small display stage for fashion showings during our showcases, and to act as a backdrop for the body mirror view when people try on clothing during our daily shop events. For seating during the fashion showings, I've included bench seating by SweetNDeadly. To act as additional atmosphere, there's a display corner where artists and builders can add a few of their creations, but keep in mind that this corner isn't meant to be limiting: If there's a better spot for a particular item, please feel free to take advantage of it! Finally, I've added a few display cases for ThereDocs. which can either be placed atop the cases, or hidden within the cases, as Sweet and I have done. Hopefully, by the end of next week, I'll also be able to purchase Davy's very hand display shelves, as well!

The second floor, I think, can be the vehicle showroom. It's currently empty, waiting for vehicles created by group members to be dropped.

The third floor will be the home and garden center, where members can drop any household items, paintings, etc. they have have created. As with the second floor, it is currently empty.

The roof is reserved for very large items, items that can't be easily placed inside, or items that rightfully belong outside, instead of inside. As with the other two floors, it currently lies empty.

The basement, I think, will be BDG space for members to hang out, relax, etc. It's currently empty, as I'm thinking that this room, too, is a good opportunity for members to display their creations.

As we all know, there's an issue with keeping items in place when they're dropped by anyone but the property owner. So, here are three ways I can think of to make group decorating work:

1) If you like, you can simply give me the item to drop and display for a certain amount of time. When you're ready to have that item back, for whatever purpose, simply contact me either via ThereMail or through IM, depending on whether I'm in world or not, and I'll gladly return the item to you.

2) I can buy a few of your items at wholesale price once the funds for that purpose comes in. That way, you still have your free copy of the item or items to do with as you wish. However, my funds are limited, so I won't be able to do this for everyone or for all items.

3) As a group, we can set up back to back, 24-7 events that will keep the items in place. Frankly, this particular solution isn't very appealing, as it requires everyone to really keep up with event scheduling, and that's difficult to do, as people will eventually begin to see such activities as a chore. However, if the other two options simply aren't feasible, we can fall back to this one.

If we use option 3, you'll be free to place items how you see fit, naturally. However, if we go with options 1 and/or 2, we'll obviously have to work together to get your items displayed to the best advantage. Of course, that's what the decorating party is for, and we can schedule a few more, if needed, to get our home looking right!

If the Keep is fully decorated before you've had a chance to add your own items, don't despair! I'll still be happy to hold or buy the item you would like to display, as I'm really interested in the idea of changing the decorations at least once a week to keep our visiting customers interested. My theory is that if there's always something new and interesting to see, customers will want to return more often, which, hopefully, will invite them to actually purchase one of our products!

I invite everyone to come on in before the event and take a look around. This way, you can get a feel for the place and figure out where you'd like to have your items displayed and arranged. Maybe you'll even be inspired to create items for use within our new home!

With that said, I wish everyone fair profits!

BDG Update: Heyla, all!

Heyla, all!

I do apologize for things being so quiet, lately. No, I have not given up on the group. Far from it. However, there were a few things going on that prevented me from being able to do much. In the real world, I've been pretty busy trying to keep up with a few situations going on in real life. It was well worth the effort, though, as I'm very, truly happy to report that I'm now employed, at least for the next 8 weeks! (Long story. If people are really that interested, I'll tell it in my next post.) Of course, this has only led to an even bigger flurry of acivity as I get ready for my first day on the job, next week. And, boy, am I nervous!

Within There, Davy had to give up the clubhouse, so for a time, we didn't have a place for our shop events. However, all is not lost, for we have a new place at Dragon's Hollow, courtesy of the hood owner, Kasss! Thank you, Kasss! This place is HUGE! There's definitely enough room for people to set out their items for display, even vehicles, so I'll probably set up a shop decoration day for people to come in and help sprucen up the shop with the items they wish to display for its Grand Reopening event in February. Hopefully, that will make up for the fact that, sadly, I just don't think we'll be able to have a Showcase event for January. Oh, well. Hopefully, next month, we can get back on track and have our shop and showcase events!

That's about it, for now. I know, it's a little scary that this isn't a novel sized post. No, the world isn't ending. It's just demanding my attention!

Wishing everyone fair profits,
TheKeeper
